Aim of the Class
- Empowerment Through Choice – the emphasis is on personal empowerment, and choice. It allows you to engage in the class in ways that feel safe and comfortable, fostering a sense of control and agency.
- Creating a Safe Environment – Suzanne offers a supportive and non-judgmental space. There are no physical adjustments, or directive language. The focus is on guiding participants to explore movements at their own pace.
- Integration of Mind and Body – through mindful movement and breath awareness, individuals can develop greater self awareness, emotional regulation and a reconnection of mind and body.
- Adaptability for Diverse Needs – Trauma Informed yoga is adaptable and accessible to people with varying physical abilities and trauma histories. It acknowledges that each persons healing journey is unique.
About your facilitator
Suzanne Ellis combines Trauma Informed Yoga with iRest Meditation which is also a well researched protocol to help treat symptoms of trauma, anxiety and depression. She also integrates Neuroeffective Touch™ and Somatic Experiencing™ techniques into her private sessions where appropriate.
Trauma is stored in the body and yoga and meditation are a gentle way of gradually unlocking and releasing trauma. We do this by learning to be in the present moment, sensing the body and breath and the environment around us.
